Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. Her family made the move to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five when she enrolled in her first Dragon School. Emma decided to become an actor at age six. Over the course of several years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. It was already her turn to perform in various Stagecoach and school productions by the time she turned ten. Casting began in 1999 with the casting process for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were cast as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. The film broke all records with regards to first-day and weekend sales, and it was the top-grossing 2001 film. Critics have praised both the film and the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her exceptional performance. Later Emma was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film and was awarded her the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in an Feature Film.
